This competition closed 22 December 2002 and a one year club membership was won by Steve Holt.

Discover four islands within the UK:

  1. To discover this island, 3 miles long,
    Think of a sanctuary that offers song,
    Look north west of a hart to find where it lies,
    Once a pirate stronghold, ghostly are their cries.

    Answer: Lundy

  2. Look and listen for this broad sound
    700 acres where birds abound
    This island’s nature is reserved
    To help protect and to preserve.

    Answer: Skomer

  3. An archipelago will offer a key,
    Look for the Old Man half way out to sea.
    The second largest of these isles,
    Offers heather-clad walks and hilly miles.

    Answer: Hoy

  4. On a very ancient site, gardens thrive and bloom,
    Near dangerous rocks of doom and gloom,
    The museum which proves to this very day,
    How their people cared for the ships lost in bays.

    Answer: Tresco
