Clive Weatherley kindly provides some pictures for last year's unnamed hunt by Mike Smith and Jane Childs.

Tuesday 1 November

Club member Charles Cunningham releases an extra clue to The Red Herring. The hunt is open to all members of the public and 100% of proceeds go to Deafblind Scotland.

As issue 77 of the Club newsletter hits the doormats of members, Craig Jones digs up Martin & Deborah's A Journey Through Merrie England hunt for club members - just hours after publication of the final part. Craig found a wooden box containing an engraved glass goblet in Putley, Herefordshire. He also wins a calendar of traditional events.

The Bulletin Board was subjected to the Santy.A worm attack (a kind of virus) in the early hours of this morning - this brought down the whole board and a lot of other websites on this server. Many other bulletin boards which are based on the same software were affected. The board is back up but does not have some of the more advanced 'profile' features. This may effectively prevent new users from registering, but existing user should have no difficulty. Note that the worm only affected the web server. This particular virus cannot be spread to people who simply viewed the site.

In the last fortnight, club members Bob Dixon and Martin Dennett were in a race to solve the first Goldclue hunt; Bob the early runner and Martin the eventual victor.

Clive Weatherley takes just a fortnight to solve Mike Smith & Jane Childs beautifully crafted three word Club hunt.

On the morning of 28 July, Roger Lintott, who had been working with Sandra Young, unearthed the prize key for the 2002 Club hunt, A Monkish Plot.

Three and a half years after it was launched, Smugglers' Gold is finally solved by club members.

The publishers of The Ultimate Quest say someone recently contacted the 'grail keeper' but was unable to answer the keeper's questions - so the grail is still up for grabs.

Club member, Dillon Waugh has published Menagerie, a taster for a forthcoming Masquerade tribute. It is open to all members of the public.

Martin, Deborah and Paul complete the set: on Saturday they solved their fourth pearl hunt (Anniversary Treasure) and promptly cracked the Gold Pearl Hunt too.

Issue 72 of the club newsletter under the new 'compositorship' of Phil, should be with members by now and is bursting with some great new articles, puzzles and hunts.

Martin Dennett, Paul Harkin and Deborah Hatton claimed their third success in the current club hunt; this time digging up the Nacremancer casket. However they have replaced the cultured pearl in the ground for the next finder to claim.
